We are currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist to enhance our space-oriented product line. This role involves hands-on development and validation of machine learning models designed to transform satellite data into actionable insights.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated expertise in data science, coupled with experience in project management and oversight of technical teams, including subcontractors. Occasional travel, primarily within the DC/MD region, will be necessary to participate in data collection, validation, and customer engagement activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate machine learning solutions to interdisciplinary problems in cybersecurity and telecommunications, working with structured (time series, tabular) and unstructured (text, 3D) data.
- Collaboratively develop data collection plans, designing experiments to ensure quality and usefulness of data.
- Work with human factors specialists, and data/full stack engineers to define system requirements, review developed code, and support translating statistical concepts to coworkers.
- Support documentation of analysis results for semi-technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical project management support, overseeing technical progress of subcontractors, providing review of technical deliverables, and helping task subcontractors during in-person data collection and model validation opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering, product and program management colleagues to define and clarify technical system requirements
Minimum:
- Graduate formal education in natural sciences, mathematics, economics, statistics, psychology, or other quantitative field, or mix of formal education and experience.
- 7 years’ professional experience with an open-source data science stack (e.g., pandas, numpy, pytorch, keras, tensorflow, pymc3).
- 5 years’ professional experience working with real-world, complex datasets.
- Experience communicating technical results to semi-technical audiences.
- 2 years’ experience with technical project management
- Secret Security Clearance required; consideration will be given to candidates with an active or a readily reinstatable Secret Clearance.
- Exposure to a product-driven machine learning organization with deployed customer-facing capabilities.
- Exposure to a big data environment, including tools for clustered computing (e.g., Spark, Dask, streaming) and large-scale data storage.
- Experience with RF/telecommunications physics, cybersecurity, or space operations.
- Experience with time series data analytics
