HBITS 07-14815 Database Administrator - Expert Full-time One Commerce Plaza, Suite 1830, Albany, NY 12257 Project/Program: DFS is seeking an Oracle expert to support their mission-critical Oracle databases. The environment is very complex and utilizes many advanced features such as RAC, multitenant, DataGuard, APEX, and a highly-customized Enterprise Manager solution for monitoring and administration. The databases support numerous custom in-house as well as vendor-supported applications, some of which have a health and safety impact when down and thus have 24/7 uptime requirements. Day-to-Day Tasks: • Work in a "gatekeeper" capacity to protect our Oracle environment by careful reviewing of all incoming requests from app teams, etc. • Careful daily review of all alerts, including logging-into the server(s) and thoroughly pro-actively reviewing various logs, performance metrics, etc, and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary. • Perform Oracle system administration activities. • Perform Oracle hardware support such as system racking and stacking, cabling, component replacement, etc. • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM). • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle operating systems, firmware, clusterware, etc. • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases. • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain APEX (database tier only). • Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to pro-actively detect issues making use of advanced features such as metric extensions, monitoring templates, etc. • Handle server and/or database crashes, performance issues, etc. • Carefully document all processes and revise/perfect such documentation on an ongoing basis. • Automate processes as much as possible and keep refining those processes on an ongoing basis. • Work with application and helpdesk teams on keeping server and client-side Oracle drivers up-to-date. • Effectively work with Oracle Support and their support portal, including understanding how their portal integrates with hardware assets, ASR fault monitoring, etc, and maintaining those functionalities. • Mentor and train junior staff. Mandatory Qualification: Database Administrator - Uses specialized software to store and organize data, which may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security and troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery. Expert - 84+ months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field. Requested Qualifications: - Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified Professional -or- OCP certification in version 12c or higher. NOTE: Oracle AI Database Administration Certified Professional does not count for this qualification. - 84 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle database 12c or higher in a Unix-like environment (e.g. AIX, Linux, etc). Experience must be specifically with multitenant RAC databases configured with DataGaurd. NOTE: Engineered systems and cloud environments do not count for this qualification. - 84 months of experience troubleshooting Oracle 12c or higher critical issues such as server and database crashes, failed disks, etc. Experience must include working with Oracle Support Services. - 36 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle Database Appliance. Experience must be specifically with High Availability (HA) models configured with version 12c or higher RAC databases. - 84 months of experience troubleshooting Oracle 12c or higher database performance and other related issues; specifically by working with other teams to identify if the issue is at the storage, network, database, or application tier. - 84 months of experience using Data Pump Export/Import -and- RMAN for backup and recovery of Oracle 12c or higher databases. Experience must include using RMAN for recovery. - 84 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c or higher in a Unix-like environment (e.g. AIX, Linux, etc). - 84 months of experience utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to pro-actively detect issues making use of advanced features such as metric extensions, monitoring templates, etc. - 36 months of experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining APEX (database tier) on version 12c or higher databases. - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. - 84 months of experience documenting processes, inclusive of creation of system architecture diagrams, etc. - 36 months of experience maintaining server hardware (racking and stacking, cabling, component replacement, etc).
