Basic Purpose:   To provide excellent customer service through prompt, efficient, and accurate bagging of customer orders in accordance with Company policies and procedures.      

Major Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent customer service through friendly, courteous, fair and honest treatment of all customers.  Maintain service levels of check stand by ensuring timely bagging of customer orders.
2. Proper selection of bag with respect to order size and customer requests of paper vs. plastic.
3. Knowledge of check stand equipment.
4. Knowledge of bag types, storage location, and proper maintain of bag stands.
5. Retrieves carts from the front end and parking lot when necessary.
6. Performs cleaning, sweeping, and mopping as necessary.
7. Reviews customer carts for “Bottom of the Basket” items.  Verifies that all large/bulky items left in cart are stamped with store approved security tape.
8. Maintain cleanliness of carts and the front end of the store.
9. Follow all Company policies and procedures.
10. Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the Company’s dress policy.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Environment:

The position of courtesy clerk requires standing, reaching, stopping, kneeling, bending, push and pull movements during the majority of a shift. Occasional lifting up to 50lbs is required. Courtesy clerks should be physically able to perform all jobs/tasks associated with all aspects of store operations.

The majority of tasks will be performed within the confines of the store, with some tasks being outdoors and in temperature controlled rooms within the store.

• Education:  Ability to satisfactorily complete a 3 hour bagger training program.

• Other:  Extrovert personality, ability to communicate with customers in a courteous manner.
