What You’ll Do:
As a Generator Service Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients have reliable power when they need it most. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Hands-On Work: Perform maintenance and repairs on generator sets ranging from 5-5000kw and troubleshoot Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) including bypass isolation and closed transition types.
- Engine Diagnostics: Work on diesel or gaseous engine systems – diagnosing and repairing issues with ignition components, fuel injection systems, and more.
- Testing & Calibration: Conduct load bank testing to ensure all units meet performance standards and applicable code requirements.
- Collaboration: Assist fellow technicians with larger projects and troubleshooting, providing support and sharing your expertise.
- Preventative Care: Perform routine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, and replace any faulty components to keep the generators running smoothly.
What We’re Looking For:
We want someone who’s not only skilled but eager to grow with us. Here’s what we’re hoping you bring to the table:
- Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma required; an associate’s degree in a related electrical/mechanical field is preferred.
- Generac Power Systems certification or 5-10 years of experience in power generation is a big plus.
- Military experience (United States Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, United States Navy Electrician’s Mate) or Generator field service tech experience is highly valued.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to keep both our team and clients in the loop.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to travel and manage your schedule efficiently.
- Comfortable with technology – proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe (PDFs).
- A valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record (you’ll be traveling to job sites frequently).
