Essential Functions
- Lead teams in identifying potential risks and mitigation actions for hardware and software projects. Evaluate potential interactions with other products and systems.
- Perform in-depth stress and noise factor risk analyses to identify possible product risks and failures, and deploy adequate design solutions to prevent them.
- Support the Product Development and Commercialization (PDC) Gate process and the Advanced Product Safety Governance (APSG) protocol throughout the product lifecycle, from feasibility to launch, in an Agile team environment.
- Ensure the use of tools such as hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, and DFMEA to identify product safety risks and confirm that designs are robust enough to meet customer requirements. Manage risk registers, mitigation strategies, and follow-up communication planning.
- Develop reliability goals to be achieved during product development testing using reliability growth (RG) standards. Validate the sufficiency of reliability assessments and lead the planning of assessment techniques.
- Conduct assessments against RG planned values to estimate whether the program is progressing as scheduled. Determine when alternative strategies are needed if the program deviates from plan.
- Reexamine problem areas and lead management strategies to ensure that failure modes identified during testing are addressed with effective corrective actions that support the achievement of reliability goals.
- Develop effective working relationships to secure matrixed resources in support of initiatives. Positively influence stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external. Clearly communicate project status, risks, and scope changes to stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Serve as the quality focal point for assigned customers within the designated business unit. Interface with customers and manufacturing plants to define quality requirements and monitor performance.
- Support breakthrough quality initiatives and participate in special projects as assigned. Assist all functional areas and manufacturing locations with advanced quality planning, problem resolution, prevention, and mistake-proofing.
- Identify weaknesses and failure modes in design and manufacturing processes. Coordinate personnel and procedures to analyze, isolate, and identify the root causes of failures.
