Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting with tasks like catheter care, wound care, or basic life support when needed.
- Document patient information thoroughly in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, especially in specialized areas such as geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, or behavioral health.
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients with complex needs such as memory care or those in hospice or palliative settings.
- Follow aseptic techniques and infection control protocols diligently to ensure patient safety across acute and long-term care environments.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state or relevant licensing authority.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or pediatric patients.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic/eClinicalWorks) and medical documentation standards.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic nursing procedures such as medication administration and catheter care.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting and safe manual handling practices while maintaining patient safety.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and provide clear patient service.
- Prior experience in settings such as hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable.
