What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Activity Coordinator position at Knik Tribe?
The Youth Activity Coordinator supports the Youth Activity Leader in providing a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive environment for students ages 6 through 11. This role assists with daily activities, student supervision, and program operations within a fast-paced, short-term summer program. The Assistant must be flexible, proactive, and able to support activity implementation with limited preparation time.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The successful candidate will:
· Assist in the implementation of daily activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor play, educational games, and enrichment projects.
· Support culturally relevant activities, traditions, and perspectives into daily programming in a respectful and age-appropriate manner.
· Create a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and teamwork.
· Supervise students at all times to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
· Assist in preparing, organizing, and cleaning up materials and activity spaces.
· Support the lead teacher during field trips, ensuring proper supervision and adherence to safety protocols.
· Assist in managing student behavior using positive guidance and redirection.
· Maintain awareness of student needs and communicate concerns to the lead teacher.
· Assist with attendance tracking and basic program documentation as direction.
· Communicate effectively with program staff, leadership, and families as needed.
· Ensure all program policies and procedures are followed, including safety and liability requirements.

Minimum Requirements
· Prior experience working in summer camps, youth programs, or similarly structure group settings is required.
· A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with elementary-aged children (grades K-5).
· Experience planning and leading engaging group activities.
· Prior experience working
· Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures, traditions, and values.
· Valid state of Alaska driver’s license and be insurable under Knik Tribe’s automotive insurance.
· Clean state and federal background check.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Knowledge and experience of Knik Tribe’s Service Area and Knik Tribe’s Programs.
· Adequate understanding of all Microsoft Office Applications.
· Capable of basic maintenance for general office equipment and multi-line phone systems.
· Must pass a criminal background check and be free of barrier crimes.
· Clean driving record.
· Knowledge and application of professional and ethical conduct as guided by Knik Tribal Council Personnel Manual Section 8.1.

Program Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:45 AM – 5:30 PM (8 hour shift time determined at hire)
Salary: $20.00 per hour
