Position Summary:
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will serve as the point of contact for talent acquisition and benefits administration for Knik Tribe. This position works closely with and reports directly to the Human Resources Manager to support departmental operations, ensure consistent application of HR practices, and assist with day-to-day employee and applicant needs. The HR Generalist also performs a variety of additional HR tasks to support efficient and compliant HR services across the organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation while ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of all employee information.
· Manage full-cycle recruitment and onboarding, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, reference and education verifications, new hire paperwork, and background checks.
· Maintain applicant tracking records and recruitment metrics; recommend improvements to hiring processes and candidate experience.
· Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior level HR staff or management.
· Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, workers compensation, and retirement plan providers.
· Coordinate benefits enrollment, open enrollment events, and employee education sessions.
· Assist employees with benefits-related questions, claim issues, and life-event updates.
· Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure timely submission of documentation vendors.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, tribal, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
· Conduct periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure compliance and proper document collection.
· Provides clerical and administrative support to the HR department, including directing phone calls and assisting with correspondence.
· Perform all related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a Human Resources department supporting an organization with 50 or more employees.
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in benefits administration, including enrollment, coordination with vendors, and employee support.
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in talent acquisition, including recruitment, applicant screening, and onboarding coordination.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with management, take initiative, and assume increasing levels of responsibility.
· Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
· Proficiency or willingness to learn HR technology, systems, and design software.
· Must pass a state and federal background check in compliance with the 1990 Indian Child Protection Act.

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
