Description
Purpose:
The Loader Operator plays a key role in supporting the efficiency and safety of precast operations by transporting products and materials within the yard and designated areas. This position involves the skilled operation of heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, forklifts, and buckets—to ensure materials are handled accurately and safely in accordance with company standards.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain full compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring both personal and team adherence.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures while promoting and adhering to company values.
- Safely operate a front-end loader to transport precast products between production areas and the precast yard.
- Review and interpret logistical plans or drawings to determine proper loading methods for precast products onto trailers.
- Unload materials from delivery vehicles (e.g., flatbeds, step-decks, and box trailers) and transport to designated areas.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production area and yard.
- Assist with customer pick-ups as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficiency in operating front-end loaders and related heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret logistical and loading drawings.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with heavy machinery preferred.
- Proven ability to operate a loader with chains (not just bucket work).
- Strong understanding of safe rigging and lifting practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Attention to detail and precision in staging and loading.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to climb in and out of heavy machinery repeatedly throughout the day.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs manually.
- Adequate balance, coordination, and hand-eye control for precise machine operation.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined spaces when hooking chains.
- Tolerance to outdoor working conditions including heat, cold, rain, and dust.
- Stamina to perform repetitive motions and physical labor for long shifts to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
