Septic Technician (Class A, Non-E Restricted)

Sacramento/Stockton, CA

Description Range: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour/DOE

$1500 Signing Bonus

Shift/Hours: Monday – Friday; Weekends as needed.

Position Purpose/Summary: Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, Septic Technicians are responsible for pumping commercial septic tanks and driving to various locations to service/pump/clean portable restrooms and holding tanks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspection and report deficiencies to shop immediately.
• Report improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions to the Operations Manager.
• Operate service trucks to and from pre-designated work sites based on daily routing information.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with dispatch to receive additional instructions, changes to work location, etc. to ensure the highest quality of customer service.
• Service portable restrooms, pump portable septic trucks, holding tanks, sinks, showers, etc. at various work sites by following the company’s servicing guidelines.
• Restock paper products, hand sanitizer, soap, etc. in every unit serviced.
• Clean interior and exterior of units and add chemical solution to portable restroom units.
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor on status of project(s), including any delays or change requests.
• Complete all truck logs and necessary documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Immediately report all work-related injury and/or accidents to Branch Manager.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Septic Technician or similar role.
• Understanding of commercial and residential septic system design, installation, and maintenance procedures.
• Initiative-taker.
• Reliable, with a high level of integrity and strong work ethic.
• Detail orientated.
• Ability to follow basic instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.
• Ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer literate – routing and tablet information for service needs.

Skills:

Language skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one conversation to customers, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical skills: Ability to perform simple arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).

Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency, measurement, weight, and distance.

Reasoning ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid California Class A Driver’s License with tanker endorsement and cannot be E Restricted. Vehicle insurance at no less than California State minimum required limits of liability.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (in some cases extreme heat/cold), moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position requires employees to travel regularly to off-site work locations and as such use of a vehicle will be provided.

Safety Requirements/Personal Protective Equipment: The employee will be required to wear all safety equipment (PPE) and comply with all health and safety policies and programs enforced by the Company.
