This position is responsible for opening/closing the plant and managing the day-to-day plant operations to ensure smooth, consistent, and quality plant operations, and to provide leadership and oversight to plant personnel.

Essential Functions
- Perform all job duties in accordance with company safety, environmental, and operational policies without exception.

- Safely batch concrete and load trucks according to order specification, ensuring the highest level of quality while maintaining high efficiency.
- Enter material tickets into back office. Prepare daily packets to include batch tickets, material tickets, daily truck sheets, and any other relevant receipts for delivery to the main office.
- Perform quality checks on sand moisture, slumps, and temperatures according to schedule.
- Schedule drivers for the next day with times provided by Dispatch.
- Actively motivate and coach drivers and other plant staff.
- Maintain a clean and orderly plant and clean fleet.
- Distribute, receive, and review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) from all supervising drivers.
- Conduct daily Truck Check-ins to ensure trucks have appropriate fluid and tire pressure levels.
- Communicate with Shop to report issues with plant trucks / heavy equipment and coordinate repairs.
- Record hours on trucks weekly and record in public file for service schedules.
- Communicate with Shop to coordinate planned services on plant trucks and heavy equipment.
- Work with Plant Maintenance department to perform routine plant maintenance; communicate and coordinate plant repairs, and to report troubleshoot issues.
- Monitor fuel levels daily and reorder, as necessary.
- Record fuel on sheet from drivers and enter into the computer.
- Supervise Yard personnel to ensure that daily duties are completed accurately and keep the plant orderly and neat.
- Review all employee timecards from the previous week to ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance with the company payroll schedule.
- Ensure all production personnel act within current company policies and procedures; deliver disciplinary measures when necessary and provide proper documentation to Human Resources.
- Ensure all production personnel perform their job functions in accordance with company safety and environmental policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform annual reviews for plant personnel on a yearly and as needed basis.
- Perform weekly mixer inspections for cleanliness and condition and record findings.
- Perform monthly safety training meetings with all plant personnel; ensure that the meeting minutes and attendance are recorded and submitted to Safety.
- Report on end of the month material inventories at the close of each month’s last business day.
- Report on chemical and extra product inventories weekly, and order when necessary.
- Report daily materials inventory by 3:00 PM each day the plant operates.
- Ensure that all mixers are washed and fueled up after returning from the last load daily.
- Make sure the plant is shut down properly at the close of business each day the plant operates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4-6 years of related experience in concrete batching, plant operations, or a similar production environment.
- Possess ACI Level I Certification or can obtain ACI Level I Certification within six months of employment.
- Possess SCDOT Concrete Technician – Batching Certification or can obtain SCDOT Concrete Technician – Batching Certification within six months of employment.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of concrete batching technology, equipment, methods, and safety.
- Ability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Prior supervisory / management experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with drivers and customers.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Eagerness to achieve and maintain a level of excellence in customer service.
- Good aptitude for coordination, planning, and scheduling.
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in high pressure situations under tight deadlines.
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach, and operate a computer keyboard.
- Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and/or ladders.
- Ability to work primarily outside, with exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
