Duties
- Safely operate school buses, paratransit vehicles, or other designated transportation modes to shuttle campers between designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal working condition, including checking mechanical systems and safety features.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations diligently while maintaining punctuality and reliability.
- Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus, providing support as needed to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Communicate clearly with camp staff, parents, and children to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times effectively.
- Manage behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to promote a respectful and safe environment.
- Maintain accurate records of routes driven, mileage, and any incidents or safety concerns during shifts.
Experience
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with bus driving or commercial driving preferred.
- Prior experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vehicle maintenance is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are an added advantage for engaging diverse communities.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to handle young passengers effectively.
- Experience with driving paratransit or school buses is preferred but not required; training will be provided if necessary.
