Description
Knight Material Technologies is seeking a full time Safety Director for onsite employment at either of their 3 locations: East Canton, OH, Emmaus, PA, or Houston, TX locations. The Safety Director assists in ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, Local, environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements while building a culture of EHS excellence. This position leads a Safety Management system with responsibility for four manufacturing sites plus construction services at our customers’ sites. The Safety Director must be skilled in interpreting and complying with regulations that apply across business operations, exhibit excellent leadership skills, and be able to work across functional boundaries to achieve a zero-harm culture.
Safety Director
Reports to: Legal Counsel
Full time, Exempt position
Locations: East Canton, OH, Emmaus, PA, or Houston, TX
Responsibilities:
- Leads continual improvement in the safety culture and management system.
- Manages KMT’s safety staff (5 reports) while promoting their personal and professional development through formal training and practical application.
- Leads risk assessments across our manufacturing sites and field services.
- Designs and implements safety training programs.
- Maintains documentation to be compliant with both regulatory and customer requirements.
- Manages regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory agencies, including coordination with 3rd party consultants.
- Oversees required health and safety programs.
- Develops and reviews job hazard analysis.
- Oversees investigations.
- Oversees all relevant safety records utilizing internal compliance software as a program administrator.
- Monitors, analyzes, and tracks safety trends to identify patterns and potential risks.
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience as a Safety Manager in either a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Ability to gain acceptance of different viewpoints.
- Ability to make and effectively communicate sound decisions with minimal direction.
- Proficiency using MS Office tools and SharePoint.
- Strong communications skills; verbal & written.
- Ability to travel up to 50% as needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or similar.
- Knowledge of both OSHA and MSHA safety requirements.
