Part-Time Occupational Health Medical Examiner
Location: Hickory & Winston-Salem, NC (Mobile Client Sites)
Schedule:
- Primary Client: Every other Monday (biweekly) and the first Saturday morning of each month at a recurring client location in the Hickory/Winston-Salem region.
- Secondary Client: Quarterly occupational health clinics at community colleges located within approximately 45 minutes of Hickory and Winston-Salem.
- Additional mobile assignments may become available as Knight Health continues to grow.
Pay: $50–55/hour (Guaranteed pay regardless of client cancellations or no-shows)

We are seeking a dependable, professional FMCSA Certified DOT Medical Examiner who enjoys working independently and is willing to travel to client locations throughout the region.
Position Summary
As a Mobile Occupational Health Medical Examiner, you will travel to employer locations to perform DOT physicals, occupational health examinations, fit-for-duty evaluations, pre-employment physicals, and drug and alcohol collections.
The majority of your schedule will consist of a recurring client served every other Monday and on the first Saturday morning of each month. In addition, you will provide quarterly occupational health clinics for community college partners located within approximately 45 minutes of Hickory and Winston-Salem. Additional mobile clinics may be offered as new clients are added.
Patient schedules are provided in advance, allowing you to prepare before each clinic.
Responsibilities
- Perform DOT physical examinations in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct occupational health and pre-employment physicals
- Perform fit-for-duty evaluations
- Complete DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol specimen collections
- Review medical histories and determine medical qualification status
- Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently
- Communicate examination results to Knight Health’s Managing Director
- Maintain exceptional professionalism with clients and patients
- Travel to client locations throughout the Hickory and Winston-Salem regions
- Provide recurring services for an established employer client and quarterly clinics for community college partners
Required Qualifications
- Active professional license eligible to perform DOT physical examinations in North Carolina
- Current FMCSA Certified DOT Medical Examiner (Required)
- Willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Occupational health experience
- DOT drug and alcohol specimen collection certification
- Experience performing DOT physicals
- Experience with fit-for-duty and pre-employment examinations
Compensation
- $50–55 per hour
- Guaranteed compensation even when scheduled patients cancel or fail to appear
