KNDS USA is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Quality Control / NDT Inspector to join our team. The Quality Control / NDT Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections, tests, and audits of electro-mechanical, systems, assemblies, and components. The Inspector ensures materials, parts, and assemblies conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and industry-specific quality standards like ISO 9001 and AS9100. The Inspector should be able to inspect for any product deformities using NDT (non-destructive testing) methods and techniques, such as penetrant inspection (PT), visual inspection (VT), or magnetic particle inspection (MT).

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct NDT inspections according to customer requirements and KNDS procedures.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of materials, components, and assemblies throughout the manufacturing and maintenance lifecycle.
  • Utilize a range of precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers, to verify part conformance.
  • Inspect electrical, mechanical, and structural components for compliance with engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to ensure that initial production runs meet all specifications.
  • Accurately document all inspection results, including non-conformances, and maintain detailed traceability records in a quality management system.
  • Tag and quarantine all non-conforming materials and assist in the root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Interface with government and customer representatives during on-site inspections.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Certification in NDT methods, such as penetrant inspection (PT) or magnetic particle inspection (MT). Proof of NDT certification (current or expired), including total hours of inspection and training are required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
  • Expertise in using standard measuring and testing equipment.
  • Strong computer skills for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a United States citizen or green card holder.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED is required. An associate’s degree or vocational training is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably within the aerospace and defense sector.
  • Appropriate NDT training (classroom and on the job)

Physical Requirements:
  • May be required to work extended or irregular hours during critical project phases.
  • Prolonged standing and walking, some lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to use hands for fine motor tasks like typing and using tools.
  • Crucially, inspectors need specific vision abilities, such as clear close-up and distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus, to detect flaws and ensure products meet standards. Must be able to pass vision test for near vision and ability to determine color.
  • The use of personal protective equipment like safety glasses, gloves, or hearing protection.
