- Transport full and empty trailers between designated docks, and parking spaces
- Assist warehouse personnel with tasks between trailer switches which may include: build pallets for shipments, pallet wrapping, pre-load scanning, loading and unloading freight and labeling
- Inspects truck and trailer equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, dollies, and deck for defects prior to spotting in load bays
- Inspect cargo to ensure it is properly loaded or secured
- Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with warehouses, supervisors, or other drivers
- Maintain organization of the trailer yard to ensure the efficient and safe transport of trailers
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work area
- Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation, including the user and operation of trailer jacks, landing gear, and wheel chocks
- Review documents or materials for compliance with relevant policies or DOT regulations (such as a Bill of Lading, Bill of Materials, Shipping Manifest) and storing them in a proper manner during transport
- 1 year of commercial tractor-trailer driving or switcher experience
- High School diploma or GED
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook
- Valid Michigan Driver’s license, clean driving record, DOT Medical Card, or ability to obtain a DOT-required medical certification, CDL
- Ability to efficiently work in a high paced environment
- Ability to work with other team members on the warehouse and production floor
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally throughout the organization; Good verbal and written communication
