Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Equipment and Fleet Operations Manager to lead maintenance and operations for our vehicle and equipment fleet. This role combines mechanical expertise with strong organizational skills, vendor coordination, and the ability to manage fleet data through telematic systems. The ideal candidate will ensure our equipment remains in excellent working condition and that our fleet runs efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily shop operations, including scheduling and prioritizing repairs and maintenance
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and gasoline vehicles
- Coordinate equipment and vehicle deliveries; drive company trucks when needed
- Manage inventory and order parts, fluids, and supplies from vendors
- Monitor and manage telematic systems to track asset location, maintenance, and performance
- Evaluate used equipment for potential purchase or replacement of aging fleet
- Ensure compliance with safety and DOT standards for all vehicles and equipment
- Perform light welding and fabrication as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair logs
- Collaborate with field teams and leadership to minimize downtime and keep operations running smoothly
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment and fleet maintenance
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills for both diesel and gas-powered equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Familiarity with fleet telematics systems
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is required
- Clean driving record is required
- Must provide and maintain professional tools
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
