Job Summary:
This position performs a variety of complex engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature in one or more of the company’s product/service areas requiring strong technical skills in one or more software and/or hardware engineering disciplines. Participates on project teams and provides guidance to technical staff. Requires specialized skills or is multi-skilled developed through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. KMS is seeking an Engineering Technician III/IV experienced in underwater acoustics and Towed Arrays to work with a team of Engineers and Technicians across a portfolio of engineering services. Candidate will also engage with Senior Engineers for design reviews, troubleshooting, and implementing technical solutions associated with US Navy related acoustics systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Excellent listening skills are essential. Must be able to observe and report, operate office equipment and be able to communicate professionally with KMS employees and KMS clients. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and perform 2 person lifts of up to 115 lbs.
Work Environment:
This job mainly operates in a professional office environment and in a lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Will also routinely work in a lab environment that develops, maintains, and validates test equipment which includes soldering copper pins and sockets and building and repairing fiber optic cables. There will be occasional shipboard presence and occasional Intermediate Maintenance Activity presence.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.
Telework:
No telework allowed – 100% onsite.
Travel:
Up to 10% travel may be required.

- Minimum Education: HS Degree
- Minimum Experience: Three years of experience with acoustic sensors and signal processing. The experience shall also include a thorough understanding of in-water measurement arrays, equipment maintenance, and the interfacing of hardware and software for operation of measurement arrays.
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- Towed Array handling, installations, maintenance, and operation in US Navy environment.
- Advanced technician skills, soldering, and troubleshooting electronic equipment.
