Role Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time role based in Bakersfield, CA. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting & diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment.

The role involves inspecting equipment to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns, documenting work performed, and communicating findings and repair options to supervisors or customers in a clear and professional manner. The mechanic will use diagnostic tools and service manuals, follow safety and regulatory standards, and support field service work or collaborate with other technicians to handle complex repairs. This position requires reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining equipment performance and safety.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Demonstrated experience in engines, transmissions, axles, electrics, air conditioning, and hydraulics.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment used in agricultural and construction environments.
• Effective troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment, with a focus on safety practices.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for field service work.
• Strong communication, time management, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
