SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The CNC Machinist Apprentice will support the CNC/Wire EDM machining department, continually training and learning, while taking on advancing levels of responsibility, and operating with increased levels of independence. This is a company sponsored state apprenticeship role with on the job and school training to earn a CNC journeyman certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in setting up CNC machines, including tool changes, fixture adjustments, and verifying machine settings to ensure precision and quality
- Gain familiarity with different types of machinery and tooling, learning to identify common machine malfunctions and troubleshoot minor issues under supervision
- Consistently perform routine cleaning tasks, including removing debris, cleaning machine surfaces, and ensuring that floors and work areas are free of hazards
- Verify product quality using calipers and micrometers
- Other related duties as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Self-motivated with a sense of accountability, including record of good attendance
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and machinery
- Must own or be willing to acquire their own tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude and able to operate hand tools
Preferred Skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Knowledge of CNC machines, manual machine tools, and manufacturing processes
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
