Job Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring KMAK is producing quality parts through quality checks and measuring at specific intervals. This position works closely with the Quality Manager, Engineering Manager and supervisors to ensure all parts are being produced to the required Customer quality standards
Hours: Monday – Friday 1st shift
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily Tasks would include:
•Quality checks of all injection molded parts at each press every 2 hours. These checks include verifying correct tote quantities, labels, overall part quality (inspecting each part for any possible defects), and color checks using a color eye for specific parts.
•Retrieving all First Parts Off: The Quality Inspector is responsible for pulling all first parts off the press that are required to be measured by the customer.
•Molding Inspection: Measuring parts that are required to be by the customer once every shift using check fixtures, calipers, rulers, and a scale. Lot numbers from the resin used will also need retrieved for some parts.
•Returning Good Parts to the Press: After parts are measured and deemed good, the Quality Inspector is responsible for taking them back to the press to be put back in with production. If the part is no longer running due to a die change, the Quality Inspector takes them to the partial tote area and adds them to a partial tote.
Occasional Tasks would include:
•Measuring Steel Axles/Hinge Pins: Axles and hinge pins come in occasionally and must be measured using calipers.
•Red Tag Area: Parts may be moved to the red tag area for multiple reasons including customer complaints, internal issues/findings, etc. The Quality Inspector will audit the red tagged parts and either repair or scrap them depending on the Engineering/Quality Manager decision.
•Auditing Parts: Once a Corrective Action is issued to KMAK, we audit parts for the issue for 1 week before they are allowed to ship. The Quality Inspector may need to help audit parts on Quality Alert to ensure timely turnaround of Finished Good Parts getting out of the door.
•Red Tag Area Log Entry: The physical red tag log is filled out by whoever brings parts to the red tag area and the parts are also marked with a physical red tag. The Quality Inspector will monitor the log and ensure it is being filled out for what is physically in the area. The Quality Inspector will also enter the physical log into the excel format for record keeping.
