What are the responsibilities and job description for the SANITATION position at KLONDIKE CHEESE COMPANY?
Position Purpose:
To clean and sanitize production machinery, equipment, work areas and the facility according to Company and other required standards.
Essential Functions:
- Utilize detergents, sanitizers, brushes and high-pressure hose to clean production equipment and rooms in assigned area.
- Measure, weigh, or mix cleaning solutions, using measuring tanks, calibrated rods or suction tubes.
- Observe machine operations, gauges, or thermometers, and adjust controls to maintain specified conditions.
- Set controls to regulate temperature and length of cycles, and start conveyors, pumps, agitators, and machines.
- Drain, clean, and refill machines or tanks at designated intervals, using cleaning solutions or water.
- Perform varying tasks while standing, lifting, and crouching during long periods of time.
- The sanitation worker is required to work in an environment that is wet, humid and warm.
- Communicate and work effectively with other Sanitation personnel and Supervisor.
- Must adhere to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and HACCP pre-requisite programs, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines or Federal regulations.
- Frequently lift/move hoses and related equipment throughout every work shift.
- Exposure to and use of chemical cleaning solutions (with protective gear).
- Assist in the operation of production lines as needed, including operating or tending machines.
- Other related additional duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager, which may include assisting with packaging duties.

- Using hands for repetitive action as; simple grasping right & left, pushing & pulling right & left, fine manipulation right & left.
Schedule Requirements & Work Environment:
Standing /walking 100%, minimum 40 work hours expected per week during company operating hours, Monday through Friday and every other Saturday. Overtime is required.
