Klingberg is a private non-profit multi service agency who provides help to thousands of people across Connecticut each year. Our goal is to extend hope and healing to children and families whose lives have been traumatized by abuse and/or neglect in its various forms, sever family problems and mental health issues.

We are seeking a Director of Community Based Services to provide oversight and direction for the Community-Based programs assigned, which service children, youth, and families in the New Britain, Hartford, and Meriden areas. The Director will manage the operations of Klingbergs Child and Family services, including Intensive In-Home Family Preservation (IFP), Reunification, Parent Education Program (PEP), Screening CT Youth (SCY), Food Pantry, Quality Parenting Center (QPC) & Visitation Services. 


Typical Duties Include:

  • Manages the operations of all Klingberg Child and Family services, including IFP, Reunification, PEP,  SCY, Food Pantry, QPC & Visitation Services; recommends an organizational structure to meet program needs and objectives. 
  • Provides supervision to Program Coordinators and takes the lead on any partners/subcontractors. (example CCFSA). 
  • Provide ongoing professional skills training, and evidence-based practice skills to meet our practice model and develop professional skills training for staff. (example Professional writing, documentation, de-escalations skills in crisis, family interventions skills) 
  • Monitors the program's treatment models/scope of service work for each and assures adherence to the highest professional standards. Participates in meetings with contract partners. 
  • Oversees the collection of appropriate data for the programs and ensures that adequate data collection systems are in place. Submit necessary data and reports as required.
  •  Assures that service delivery is consistent with agency philosophy, objectives, individual and family needs, and goals of clients. Director of Community Based Services serves as a crisis intervener as necessary; guides staff as appropriate in crisis. 
  • Reviews and recommends policy for client programs; implements approved policy; establishes departmental procedures and practices. 
  •  Assist as needed in the hiring qualified personnel and ensures the retention of highly qualified staff through ongoing training and supervision. 
  • Appraises employee performance; recommends appropriate recognition. 
  • Identifies program strengths and weaknesses; recommends appropriate modifications; coordinates evaluations and findings with concerned staff. 
  • Controls the maintenance of appropriate and required records and information in electronic health records (Credible). 
  • Assists in the preparation of program operating budgets; controls expenditures within budget limits; assures the proper condition, security, and safety of assigned equipment. 
  • Reviews and reports to the Senior Director of Community Services on the status of programs in terms of numbers served, outcome measures, early terminations, personnel issues, and other pertinent data. 
  • Provide on-call support to program leads. 

Education/Experience/Other Requirements: 

Licensed Master’s level, (LMSW), (LCSW), (LMFT) from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling, Family Studies, and Child Development field with 2 to 3 years of experience working with families. Experience working with parents and children who have been separated from one or more parents due to the courts and/or Department of Children and Families (DCF) is preferred. Experience/familiarity with DBT is strongly encouraged. Must maintain a valid driver’s license. Work a 40-hour, non-structured work week including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

● Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate with youth, parents, and staff. 

● Flexible, organized, and able to work independently. 

● Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Possesses solid computer skills. 

● Supervisory, management, and administrative experience. 

● Ability to be a good team player and leader, to demonstrate flexibility in approach to job and others, to be aware of the impact on others. Must be patient, empathic, and show good judgment in high-pressure situations. 

● Familiarity, sensitivity, and/or experience working with diverse populations.

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
