The candidate will possess the following:
- BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with an emphasis on structural design
- 3 years of relevant structural engineering experience in building design preferred
- Proficiency with structural design software; AutoCAD and Revit required
- Knowledge of post‑tensioned concrete design preferred
- Applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with increasing independence, under the general supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Engineer
- Demonstrated knowledge of concrete, steel, and wood design, with the ability to apply applicable provisions of relevant design codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE, etc.)
- Methodical and organized approach to problem solving and completing project requirements, working independently or as part of a team
- Exercises sound engineering judgment and problem‑solving skills; appropriately seeks guidance when needed and proactively identifies potential issues
- Takes ownership of assigned work and follows through to completion with limited oversight
- Self‑motivated, driven, and interested in professional growth within a growing, entrepreneurial company
General Functions
- Actively participates in project meetings and contributes to resolving technical, coordination, or schedule concerns
- Performs construction administration services including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits as needed
- Designs new commercial, residential, and institutional buildings, including parking structures
- Performs condition assessments of existing structures and assists with the design of repair and strengthening solutions
- Conducts on‑site inspections and prepares technical memorandums summarizing observations and recommendations
- Takes ownership of assigned portions of the structural scope and works reliably to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Coordinates with project engineers, senior engineers, and project managers to support project delivery
- Prepares clear, well‑organized technical calculations, engineering correspondence, and reports
- May assist in mentoring Engineer I staff or interns as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, NDS, ACI as applicable).
- Strong knowledge with structural analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, ETABS, STAAD, RAM, Enercalc, or similar.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit in a building design environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
