Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will assist in surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilising instruments, and supporting surgeons and nursing staff throughout operations. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care in a fast-paced medical environment, ensuring safety and efficiency during surgical interventions.
Duties
- Prepare operating theatres by sterilising instruments and arranging surgical supplies according to procedure requirements
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary items promptly and accurately
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety
- Monitor and document surgical equipment status before, during, and after procedures
- Assist with patient positioning and comfort before surgery begins
- Support the cleaning, sterilisation, and storage of surgical tools post-operation
- Ensure all documentation related to surgical procedures is completed accurately and promptly
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate smooth surgical workflows
Requirements
- Relevant certification or diploma in Operating Department Practice or equivalent recognised qualification
- Proven experience as a Surgical Technician or similar role within a hospital or clinical setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilisation procedures, and aseptic techniques
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
- Flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required
