The North America (NA) Business Development Manager is a key position that is recognized as a critical function for business success. The NA Business Development Manager will report directly to the Executive Vice President/General Manager and provide leadership and oversight to the SA Business Development Manager along with a continued focus in the areas of selling and key account management. The NA Business Development Manager will own the foundation for the regional revenue plan with responsibility for communicating, monitoring and reporting against the plan.
This is a hybrid position with the main office located in Newburyport, MA. Travel is expected to be roughly 50% of time.

Responsibilities:
- Partner with EVP/GM and SA Business Development Manager to set sales strategy and key objectives; assist in design of Sales organization to drive efficiency and growth.
- Build the business with a focus on key opportunities in the Commercial Survey, Hydrographic, Oceanographic, Unmanned Autonomous platforms and Navy defense markets in North America to achieve revenue targets.
- Develop and grow client relationships based on a deep understanding and knowledge of US Navy customers, NA survey markets, research institutions, and defense contractors.
- Demonstrate a high level of business acumen by building in-depth technical knowledge of Klein’s products and applications. Understand and be able to communicate the business structure, relationships, and direction. Understand internal processes and controls.
- Establish regular visits with key clients.
- Maintain key capture plans for opportunities and key accounts.
- Develop, maintain and report forecast of business in markets.
- Prepare all quotes, RFPs, RFIs, white papers, contract proposals for the Commercial Survey, Hydrographic, Oceanographic and Navy Defense markets.
- Execute accurate and timely sales reporting to leadership; initiate actions based on data analysis.
- Introduce and lead training efforts around new sales tools, sales processes and sales strategies.
- Lead sales forecasting activities that accurately represent the ability to deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Represent Klein Marine Systems at trade association meetings and conferences to promote products.
- Maintain and build strategic customer relationships through frequent senior-level customer interaction.
- Establish regular meetings with Engineering to define product improvements and new product opportunities; present relevant customer feedback and data to Engineering.
- Lead efforts with Engineering and Finance to define product and feature pricing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline required and advanced degree desired.
- 5-10 years of experience in the Marine Electronics and Maritime Technology markets.
- Experience with sonars a major plus.
- Knowledge of North American Survey markets, Rental Companies, Research Institutions, Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) and Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) manufacturers and Defense Prime Contractor customers.
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy customers including but not limited to NAVOCEANO, NUWC, NSWC, EOD, ONR.
- Significant and current Commercial and/or Military marine industry contacts and relationships.
- Strong leadership skills, strong negotiating skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Technology market sales experience mandatory in target markets.
- Sales leadership skills are critical.
