The Electrical Engineer – Design and Sustainment will focus primarily on the performance and integration of high-performance mixed-signal systems combining sensitive analog signal acquisition, digital signal processing, switching power systems, and high-power amplifiers for sonar imaging systems used in unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) and underwater towed systems. This role includes some project based design of electrical systems, electrical architecture, and validation from concept through field deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure continued manufacturability, quality, and reliability of existing products.
- Develops modifications of current electrical diagrams and creates new electrical/system. designs for production based on feedback from production and customers.
- Works with Engineering and Operations to implement engineering changes.
- Provides support to Production team during prototypes and initial production to facilitate seamless product and feature releases.
- Manage product and component life cycles and obsolescence.
- Define and control electrical interfaces (power, communications, sensors) through ICDs.
- Lead system-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis across hardware and firmware.
- Drive technical decision-making and trade studies impacting system performance and reliability.
- Ensure EMI/EMC, grounding, and noise performance requirements are met.
- Ensure designs are robust for marine and towed system environments.
- Lead system integration activities and define integration plans and success criteria.
- Own system-level test plans including FAT, SAT, and V&V activities.
- Define acceptance criteria and ensure requirements traceability.
- Analyze test data and document system performance.
- Lead test readiness reviews and post-test analysis.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation including schematics, ICDs, and test reports
- Ensure configuration control through PDM/PLM systems.
- Support manufacturing during build and troubleshooting while providing engineering guidance.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Software Engineering teams for system integration and packaging.
- Support design reviews and mentor technicians or junior engineers.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Strong analog design experience (low-noise amplifiers, filtering, signal conditioning).
- Experience with power electronics and low-noise power supply design.
- Experience with embedded systems, communications, and integration (RS232, RS485, Ethernet).
- Experience with FPGA/SoC or embedded firmware integration.
- Proficiency in PCB design and electrical CAD tools (Altium, OrCAD, PADS, or KiCad).
- Understanding of EMI/EMC mitigation, grounding, and noise control techniques.
- Experience with circuit simulation, signal processing, and system-level electrical design.
- Proficiency in C, C , and/or Python for test and development.
- Strong hands-on experience with system integration, hardware debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, function generator, DAQ systems).
- Ability to define, execute, and lead integration and test activities.
- Ability to develop, manage, and verify engineering requirements through the product lifecycle.
- Experience working within quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, system diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and customers.
- High attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
