About the role:
Klaviyo is seeking a creative Senior Design Technologist to join our design team. In this role, you'll be the bridge between design and engineering, turning ideas into reality and making sure our platform looks and feels amazing. You'll work closely with our designers and engineers to bring designs to life, build prototypes, and ensure a cohesive and intuitive user experience. What you’ll do
- Design and build proof of concept design experiments with front-end code and mock data for product, design, and research teams to test with customers
- Iterate on site layout and design system components to determine optimal solutions and discover unknown edge cases before they are turned over to component engineers
- Build and ship design changes to enhance the overall user experience
- Work closely with other members of the design team to test and prototype motion design, data visualizations, and many other initiatives
- Advocate for design and engineering best practices, contributing to the evolution of our design system and development workflows
- Stay up-to-date with emerging design and technology trends, continuously exploring new tools and techniques to enhance our products
What you’ll need
- Experience in design and front-end development, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces
- Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design
- Experience with front-end technologies like React, Angular, or Web Components for building reusable and scalable components
- Strong understanding of design principles and user experience best practices
- Critical thinking and attention to detail when exploring solutions at a systematic level and a component level
- Passion for innovation and a desire to push the boundaries of design and technology
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong visual design sense and appreciation for getting the details right
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers and designers to ship new features and components
Nice to have
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies
- Demonstrated commitment to accessibility principles and experience implementing accessible design solutions according to WCAG guidelines
- Internationalization experience with products and/or design systems
