Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Dental Officer, the Dentist will deliver a full scope of dental services in our clinic. This role includes providing cost-effective, patient-centered care that meets the diverse health and social needs of our community. As a Dentist, you will conduct thorough examinations, develop personalized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality dental care to patients, regardless of their socioeconomic or cultural background.
- Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures.
- Conduct comprehensive examinations using X-rays, mirrors, explorers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Perform a variety of dental procedures, including:
- Cleanings, fillings, extractions, and tooth replacements using rotary and hand instruments.
- Designing and building crowns, bridges, and other oral structures.
- Create individualized examination and treatment plans for patients.
- Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of clinical observations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in management, staff, and board meetings, as well as training sessions, retreats, and quality improvement activities.
- Develop and implement patient dental education programs to promote oral health and prevention.
- Supervise and provide guidance to dental staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and clinic safety standards, maintaining the security of the Dental Department.
- Adhere to clinic protocols related to personnel management, expenditures, and purchasing.
- Participate in strategic planning with administrative and medical staff, aligning with organizational goals and mission.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Provide call coverage and inpatient care as required by contractual obligations.
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Family Dentistry is required.
- Preferably three (3) years of experience in a primary healthcare setting, especially in underserved communities or community health centers.
Qualifications:
- Active, valid dental license to practice in the State of Oregon.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the tact required to effectively interact with patients, staff, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of modern office equipment, systems, and procedures.
- Familiarity with legal, regulatory, administrative, and clinical issues relevant to healthcare licensing and operations, especially within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient confidentiality.
- Sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of a culturally diverse patient and employee population.
- Willingness and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
