OS&D/Customer Service Specialist

• Full-time, Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm

Job purpose

Responsible for investigating and resolving freight exceptions such as overages, shortages, damages with truckload shipments. This will require strong attention to detail and communication skills. In addition to OS&D responsibilities, this position will also have Customer Service duties assisting with performing general support functions for client’s shipments. This individual will also be primarily responsible for monitoring, tracking, and processing customer detention and accessorials while maintaining accuracy. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and have excellent customer service and communication skills. Experience in the transportation industry preferred but not mandatory.

Duties and responsibilities

· Strong communication skills with customers and drivers required, such as handling incoming calls, making outgoing calls, email communication, and obtaining and sending pictures/details of freight for customer review

· Customer service duties such as (and not limited to): order entry, shipment scheduling, tracking loads, working to ensure customer satisfaction, etc.

· Handle day-to-day monitoring and processing of carrier accessorials

· Communicate with both internal and external customers and vendors as needed via telephone and email

· Will assist with researching customer discrepancies and freight claims.

· Position may also assist with other job functions in the department as needed

· Operate office machines: computer terminal for access to entry of data, email, teleph0ne, fax machine, copy machine, calculator.

· Interdepartmental relationships will be an essential responsibility for this position

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail required.
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Effective organizational and prioritization skills for managing multiple tasks with interruptions from phone calls

· Basic computer literacy/skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

· Experience with AS400 preferred but not mandatory

· Ability to work independently and prioritize daily work assignments

· Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision

· Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to other views.

Working conditions

This position requires the individual to work in an indoor office setting.

Physical requirements

This position requires sitting at multiple desks for 7-8 hours per day. Data entry and telephone communication are the main function of this position.
