What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Deputy Coroner position at Kittitas County?
The Kittitas County Coroner is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Deputy Coroner. This is a full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible, non-union position. The Chief Deputy Coroner works under the direction of the Elected Coroner and performs the functions of the Coroner in their absence as described in RCW 36.24, and as indicated below. The Chief Deputy Coroner performs a full range of administrative support functions to contribute to the efficient operations of the office, and assists the Coroner in overseeing medicolegal death investigations, investigative operations, and investigative staff supervision. This role ensures compliance with laws, accreditation standards, and professional practices while providing leadership in uncommon and high-profile cases, disaster response, and community engagement.
