KITTCOM 911 – Kittitas County, WA is hiring an:
Accounting Specialist:
KITTCOM is seeking an Accounting Specialist for a civilian-staffed 911 center that
serves 17 public safety agencies in Kittitas County and handles approximately 55,000
calls annually. KITTCOM provides support and communication for all participating
police, fire, and ambulance services in Kittitas County and assists other governmental
emergency response divisions such as public works, public health, and the coroner’s
office. The agency operates with a 2024 budget of $3.2 million and an authorized
staffing of 18 FTEs. Headquartered in Ellensburg, KITTCOM operates out of a 4,500-
square-foot facility near Bowers Airfield. The Agency is governed by an eight-member
Board, of which six are elected and two are appointed.
Reporting to the KITTCOM Executive Director, the Accounting Specialist will
oversee KITTCOM’s technical accounting and financial processes, maintain and
enhance financial systems, and ensure accurate payroll administration, compliance, and
timely reporting. The Accounting Specialist will also serve as the primary administrative
liaison with internal and external stakeholders, supporting the agency’s financial health
and providing insightful financial guidance.

The Successful Candidate
A successful candidate for the Accounting Specialist position will exhibit strong attention
to detail and possess excellent analytical skills to ensure accurate financial reporting
and compliance with regulatory standards. They will have a solid foundation in
accounting principles and practices, demonstrated through a combination of education
and practical experience. Proficiency in advanced Excel skills is essential. Effective
communication and interpersonal abilities are necessary to collaborate seamlessly with
team members, Board members, and other agencies. The ideal candidate will be a
proactive problem-solver, capable of working with interdisciplinary teams and meeting
deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to a healthy, inclusive
environment with ethical conduct is paramount. Candidate must also be able to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field
- Four (4) years of accounting, payroll, or administrative experience
- Advanced Excel Skills
- An equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience may be
considered in lieu of the above requirements
Compensation
Depending on qualifications, the expected
hiring range is $6,782 – $7,671/month, with
an excellent benefits package.
