This position works closely with the Vice President Corporate Controller and other members of the accounting and operations departments within Kitson & Partners to ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of balance sheet accounts by properly accounting all transactions on a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and controls, while supporting financial reporting, compliance and audit requirements.
NOT A REMOTE POSITION! Mo-Fri 8:30am-5pm in office.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
- General Ledger & Month-End: Prepare and post recurring journal entries (accruals, prepaids, amortization, allocations). Maintain the integrity of corporate financial records.
- Debt & Loan Tracking: Record complex debt-related entries (principal, interest, fee amortization). Maintain corporate debt schedules and match balances to loan statements and amortization tables.
- Reconciliations: Prepare, review, and maintain monthly reconciliations for assigned corporate accounts. Proactively research and resolve account discrepancies and aged items.]
- Cash Management: Oversee daily cash receipts, deposits, and non-AP cash transactions. Direct cash applications to customer/tenant accounts and identify discrepancies.
- Collaboration & Audit: Partner cross-functionally with AP and business units. Lead internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and gathering technical support.
- Process Improvement: Identify ways to improve internal controls, streamline close timelines, and enhance reconciliation processes. Support accounting system implementations.
What We Are Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Experience: 2 years of progressive corporate accounting experience, focusing heavily on balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger, and month-end close.
Tech Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups, large data review). Knowledge of Yardi software is highly preferred.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and corporate financial reporting.
Mindset: A proactive self-starter and critical thinker who can manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
