POSITION: ReGen Garden Educator - Fall 2026

Location: Kite’s Nest58 N. Front Street, Hudson, NY 12534, & some field trips

Duration: Fall 2026 (September 14 - November 24, 2026)

Schedule/Hours: Part-Time (up to 18 hours/week)

ReGen Teens is an regenerative agriculture, gardening, food and land stewardship

program focused on restoring our local ecologies. The collaborative sessions involve

learning mainly with hands-on tasks in the garden, on the land and with the

compost system at Kite's Nest. We work closely in our gardens and connect with local

farm partners and food businesses, and local environmental organizations. We also

engage in community design, creative media and arts, and co-operative business

skills. The ReGen Teens sessions will also involve field trips to local farms, youth

conferences, trail management projects, and community events.

We are seeking a part-time Garden Educator for our Environmental

Justice programs. This position will work closely with our Environmental Justice

Director to lead ReGen Teen sessions. You will create and collaborate to design, plan

and lead curriculum, including hands-on workshops, group discussions, arts

projects, experiential learning activities, and field trips. You will serve as a mentor

to the ReGen teen staff building meaningful relationships with youth and

community members. As a youth employment program you will also support the

compassionate development of youth leaders in the areas of accountability,

responsibility, and teamwork.

Compensation: This is a Part-Time Contract Position.

Hourly Rate: $28.00

SCHEDULE RESPONSIBILITIES

Fall Work Schedule (18 hours per week):

September 14 - November 24, 2026

ReGen Program Days: Tuesdays and Fridays, 3:30-6:30pm

12 hours – program prep and session – 1:00pm-7:00pm

6 hours – gardening, site stewardship support - flexible schedule

There will be advance notice of additional hours for any training, events and extra

sessions.

Responsibilities:

- Design, facilitate, and prepare curriculum and lesson plans in the

areas of regenerative agriculture, market gardens, greenhouse

production, environmental justice, food justice, leadership

development, and business development for youth-led projects,

collaborating with the Environmental Justice Director.

- Lead and deliver consistent ReGen afterschool program sessions 2x a

week with teen staff, including hands-on activities that integrate

gardening, greenhouse propagation, composting, nature exploration,

green business management entrepreneurship, art creation, food

justice, culinary arts, seasonal foods, and community education.

- Providing routine maintenance and care for the gardens and landscape

projects across the site, including the food forest garden, learning

gardens, and ecological landscaping projects.

- Weekly updates on the crop plan, harvesting across the gardens, and

coordinating the harvest for use across programs and food and

community engagements.

- Co-managing our compost system and community operation for the

gardens and facilitating the engagement with our compost subscription

members.

- Assist in organizing and facilitation of community and mutual aid

engagements and offerings such as tours, workshops, and volunteer

days.

- Support the launch and maintenance of youth-run cooperative

enterprises, including our currently-operating compost operation,

markets and production greenhouse; work with Teen Staff to develop

business plans and manage finances.

- Help to develop and deepen partnerships with community

organizations, including youth groups, environmental justice groups,

and land projects in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and NYC.

- Provide training, supervision, mentorship, and feedback to Teen Staff.

- Support with communications community gardener and food

distribution operations.

- Participate in daily setup and clean-up of our outdoor and/or indoor

classrooms. Management and care of the land, materials and overall

site.

- Interest in the culinary arts, grounding in seasonal foods, uplifting

community nutrition, and access to foods.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate has experience as an educator working

with BIPOC youth, curriculum design and facilitation. Has a knowledge and deep

grasp of social justice issues, anti-capitalism, liberation struggles, and a passion to

create communal and systemic change. Has knowledge of restorative and

transformative justice practices and conflict resolution skills. Has an understanding

and practice of healing modalities for themselves and young people; is flexible and

adaptable, inventive, and enjoys fun youth-centered environments.
