POSITION TITLE: Employment Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Workforce Development Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

COMPENSATION: $26.44-$32.50/hr

LOCATION: San Diego, CA

Position Summary

The Employment Coordinator is pivotal in connecting individuals in our Apprenticeship programs with meaningful employment opportunities in the hospitality sector to ensure successful completion of the on-the-job training (OJT) portion of their apprenticeship. The Employment Coordinator works one-on-one with Apprentices to support them in securing employment, leveraging relationships with KFG Employer Partners, and providing guidance on job search techniques.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Apprentices and their Career Services Coordinators and Chef Instructors to understand apprentice skill sets and criteria for pathways and job placement.
  • Assist in and teach established career readiness classes. Classes include but are not limited to: resume building, job search 101, career pathways, and employee rights.
  • Provide Apprentices with support on self-guided job search techniques, such as assistance with job applications and interview preparation, and assist apprentices with finding job opportunities that fit their skills, job readiness, and work style. As needed, provide support to alumni in identifying and securing employment opportunities.
  • Coordinate a weekly Job Club for job-seeking apprentices, collaborating with the designated Career Services Coordinators and overseeing volunteers.
  • Compile weekly job leads based on job seeker data and industry trends.
  • Work with Career Services Coordinators to match Apprentices with job openings with KFG Employer Network based on Apprentice skill set and job site work environment.
  • Schedule and facilitate interviews and hiring events with Employer Partners and facilitate job offers and Handbook agreements.
  • Interface between the KFG Workforce Development Manager, Employer, and Apprentice to ensure expectations are met.
  • Coordinate and attend visits to Apprentice job sites.
  • Author and distribute quarterly Employer Network Newsletter.
  • Collaborate with Career Service Coordinators to ensure that Apprentices get additional training as needed to succeed in their job.
  • Collaborate with Career Services Coordinators and culinary instructors to gather feedback on apprentice skill development and readiness at the end of initial training to identify Transitional Employment candidates.
  • Facilitate onboarding, scheduling and timecards, and offboarding for Transitional Employment opportunities. Coordinate collaborative meetings to monitor apprentice performance and skill development.
  • In collaboration with the program team, support key performance outcomes, including completion of initial training, job placement and retention, and program completion.
  • Maintain accurate records in our applicant tracking and CRM system.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

In addition to the office, this job occasionally operates in a kitchen environment housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat steam, fire and noise.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Position Type & Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position with a working schedule of Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, however occasional evening and/or weekend may be required.

Travel

Employee will be expected to travel to as needed, to additional KFG locations and Employer Partner sites. Employee must have reliable transportation, and the ability to work across multiple sites.

Compensation Transparency

The final salary offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your education, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge. Requirements

Education & Work Experience:

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in workforce development or job training, job placement, adult education, adult literacy
  • 2 years in Hospitality Industry preferred
  • Familiarity with workforce development programs that serve individuals with barriers to employment and industry trends in the food service and hospitality industry
  • Relevant lived experience (highly desirable)
  • Proficient experience and knowledge in Microsoft office 365 programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, One Drive, and Share Point)
