REPORTS TO: Supervising Cook
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
COMPENSATION: $18.00-$23.00
LOCATION: Youth Transition Campus (YTC) San Diego, CA

Position Summary
The dining attendant/dishwasher will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the dinning areas and duties as a dishwasher.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat steam, fire and noise.
The kitchen is located at the Youth Transitional Center (detention center for youth) in 2801 Meadow Lark Drive San Diego, 92123 near our Door of Hope Campus. Employees will interact with Kitchens for Good Staff and the staff of the detention center.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is routinely required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing over 75 pounds. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a non-exempt, full-time position scheduled for 32-40 hours a week. Scheduled hours and days will vary. Must be available to work on weekends and evening shifts.
Travel
Ability to work across multiple sites.
Background Checks
Must undergo Criminal background clearance through the Probation (backgrounds), State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Drug screen and Tuberculosis Testing.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Responsible for safely operating and maintaining the industrial dishwasher and adhering to established safety procedures.
- Perform proper preventative maintenance as established for industrial dishwasher, immediately report malfunctions to supervisor.
- Performs routine washing of dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans. May be required to wash by hand when necessary.
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklist.
- Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.
- Ensure dish storage is clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Order/purchase supplies as needed.
- Adheres to established cleaning schedule to ensure kitchen floors, walls, and ceilings are maintained clean.
- Clean up spills and/or broken glass immediately.
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
- Assist in scheduled deep cleaning as required of kitchen floors and other areas as needed.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms upon request.
- Empty trash and recycle containers.
- Clear and rest tables promptly and efficiently.
- Assist with food and beverage service as needed.
- Ensure all dinning room supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Monitor and maintain the overall appearance of the dinning area.

- Minimum high graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of experience 6 months related experience and/or promoted Kitchens for Good Apprentice – highly desired
- Maintains current Food Handlers card
