Job Summary
We are seeking a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and energetic Food Runner / Barback to join our team. In this dual role, you will be the backbone of our floor and bar operations, ensuring seamless communication between the kitchen, bar, and service staff. Your main goal is to support our servers and bartenders so our guests receive exceptional, timely service.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Runner Duties:
- Deliver Orders Promptly: Carry food trays from the kitchen to the correct guest tables accurately and efficiently.
- Kitchen-to-Floor Liaison: Act as the primary communicator between front-of-house (FOH) staff and the kitchen line regarding ticket times, special requests, and modifications.
- Garnish & Quality Check: Inspect plates before they leave the kitchen to ensure presentation meets our standards and all modifications or dietary restrictions are correct.
- Table Support: Assist servers by clearing empty plates (bussing), wiping down tables, refilling water glasses, and resetting tables for the next guests.
- Knowledge of the Menu: Maintain a strong understanding of the menu, ingredients, and potential allergens to answer basic guest questions upon delivery.
Barback Duties:
- Stock & Replenish: Keep the bar fully stocked with ice, glassware, garnishes, liquor, beer, and wine throughout the shift.
- Glassware Management: Collect dirty glassware from the bar, run it through the dishwasher, and return clean glasses to the bartenders quickly.
- Prep Work: Prepare fresh garnishes (cutting fruit, juicing) and syrups ahead of and during the shift.
- Keg & Back-Stock Management: Change beer kegs as needed and restock heavy cases of liquor or wine from the storage room.
- Maintain Bar Cleanliness: Wipe down bar counters, clean spills immediately, empty trash cans, and maintain a safe, sanitary workspace behind the bar.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a restaurant or bar environment is preferred, but we are willing to train the right attitude.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs (like kegs and ice buckets), and navigate a busy kitchen/floor safely.
- Pace & Urgency: Ability to thrive and stay organized in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
