About the Company:
Kitchen Fresh Foods (KFF) is a USDA-approved manufacturer and distributor of Ready to Eat (RTE) Prepackaged foods. KFF made its name in food service for its industry leading Fresh Food distribution platform. KFF is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial Territory Sales Manager, “TSM” to lead, develop and ensure the success of our DSD operations in our Sandusky, OH territory.
Position Summary
As Territory DSD Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of sales and distribution operations in your territory. Working closely with your Regional Sales Manager - DSD you will have full accountability for the in-store presence of KFF as a brand and company in your assigned geography. You’ll select, hire, train, develop lead and influence a roster of Route Sales Representatives (RSRs) and a Territory Assistant while interacting with KFF customer support, transportation, maintenance, and safety teams regularly. Success in this role requires an unmatched sense of urgency to match the fast-paced requirements of Fresh Food Direct Store Delivery operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Position essential functions and responsibility: management of the territory sales team and fleet to best maintain servicing the customer to a high level and developing long term collaborative relationships and growth.
- People – Select, direct, retain LEAD and develop your team in accordance with KFF expectations. Ensure staffing levels meet requirements, communicate gaps, and solve scheduling opportunities. Meet regularly with your team to provide feedback and ensure team members know what success looks like.
- Equipment – Work with KFF fleet maintenance and safety teams to ensure KFF fleet equipment in your geographic area is in good working condition. Co-ordinate with local support or vendors to solve for equipment opportunities at the direction of KFF fleet maintenance protocols.
- Supply – Ensure weekly orders are made in a timely fashion to allow KFF supply chain to execute to perfection. Monitor route waste, inventory, and space efficiency as well as communicate any interruptions to your team.
- Product - Review product performance across your territory. Provide suggestions for production on local products you’d like to see offered and ensure new item launches are executed to expectations.
- Routes – Review route efficiency regularly with Regional Sales Manager and DSD Director to ensure KFF Fresh DSD routes are servicing your geography efficiently and profitably. Make suggestions for route adjustments to accommodate route growth, new customer additions or subtractions.
- Customers – Wire with key customers within your territory to ensure KFF’s product share of the shelf is adequately maintained. Sell in new product lines and coach your sales teams on development of existing accounts in accordance with KFF “Look of Success”.
- Quality – Ensure product quality is maintained throughout the supply chain by regularly inspecting temperature monitoring software’s and doing regular shelf audits for product specification adherence. Report inconsistencies back to customer service as required.
- Compliance – Ensure staff adhere to all local and regional laws and regulations as it pertains to interstate commerce. Address non-conformance as appropriate.
- Business Development – Create plans to further develop your territory through new customer acquisition and/or geographical expansion. Work with KFF sales leadership to sell new chains or areas for route expansion. Periodically prospect accounts and areas.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- 5 years in route, territory or sales experience required.
- Direct Store or direct to consumer distribution experience preferred.
- A strong work ethic with a desire to exceed expectations both internally and externally. Demonstrated self-motivation and leadership abilities are required.
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills, the ability to set priorities and the ability to effectively schedule time and meet deadlines are required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft office products, Google Maps, etc.
- Must be willing to travel within territory with the potential for extended overnight stays.
- Able to obtain and maintain DOT Federal Medical Certificate.
- Maintain Valid Class C Driver’s License.
