What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Kitch Designs?
ABOUT THE ROLE
Kitch is a growing premium kitchen design & build company serving New Jersey's upscale residential market. We deliver complete kitchen transformations — from design concept through final installation — as a single seamless experience.
We're looking for a Project Manager who will be the operational backbone of every project we take on. Once a client signs, you lead the execution phase. You'll take the handoff from our Design Consultant and drive the project to a completed, client-approved kitchen — on time, on budget, and at the standard our brand demands. We are looking for someone who treats each project like a business unit.
Kitch is a growing premium design-build company with a strong and expanding project pipeline. This is not a desk job. You'll be in client homes, on the phone with subs, visiting showrooms, and making day-to-day operational decisions in real time. You stay calm when projects get messy and find solutions instead of excuses. If you thrive in that environment — this role grows with you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead projects from handoff to closeout
- Take over client relationships from the Design team at contract signing
- Manage 3–5 active projects simultaneously (depending on project size and complexity)
- Build a detailed schedule covering trades, deliveries, and key milestones
- Run the client kickoff meeting and set clear expectations from day one
- Authority to coordinate subs, enforce schedules, and make day-to-day operational decisions
Be the face of Kitch for every client
- Serve as the single point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
- Proactively communicate progress, delays, and changes — no surprises
- Turn difficult conversations into trust-building moments
- Drive 5-star reviews and referrals through an exceptional client experience
Coordinate trades & materials
- Manage subcontractors across electrical, plumbing, flooring, cabinetry, and countertop installation
- Coordinate countertop templating, fabrication, and delivery with our fabrication partner
- Track material orders and flag risks before they become delays
- Conduct site visits to verify quality at key milestones
Keep the numbers honest
- Track project-level costs against budget in real time
- Document, price, and obtain approval for all change orders
- Maintain complete project files: contracts, permits, invoices, warranties
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-haves
- 3 years managing residential remodeling projects — kitchen & bath preferred
- Proven ability to run multiple projects simultaneously without dropping the ball
- Experience working directly with high-expectation homeowners
- Subcontractor coordination across multiple trades
- Budget tracking and change order management
- Ability to read architectural and design plans
Big plusses
- Kitchen & bath industry background (NKBA certification is a strong plus)
- Familiarity with countertop, cabinetry, or natural stone materials
- Experience with JobTread or similar construction PM platforms
- Familiarity with 2020 Design or similar kitchen design software
- PMP or equivalent certification
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In 90 days, a successful PM at Kitch will have:
- Projects running on schedule with no client escalations
- Subcontractors showing up on time because they know you follow up
- Clients calling you — not us — because they trust you
- Budgets tracked and margins protected on every active job
- At least one completed project with a 5-star review
WHO THRIVES HERE
You might be a fit if you've said to yourself: "I need to know where every project stands, at all times." Or: "If I don't follow up, nothing gets done." Or: "I actually like talking to clients — even the hard ones."
Not a fit if:
- You avoid difficult conversations or uncomfortable accountability moments
- You need constant direction to prioritize your day
- You prefer working behind the scenes over client-facing responsibility
- You shut down when plans change mid-project
