Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Rights & Royalties Manager (Fractional) to support royalty reporting, rights management, and contract-driven financial workflows across our physical plus digital product ecosystem.

This is a senior, trusted role designed for an experienced music industry professional who brings strong judgment, systems thinking, and comfort working with confidential information. The role reports directly to the President, North America and Chief Marketing Officer and works closely with business development, legal, product, and finance stakeholders.

As KiTbetter continues to grow, this engagement may expand over time, including the potential for a full-time role, based on business needs and mutual interest.

Key Responsibilities

Rights and Royalty Operations

• Oversee royalty reporting for artists, labels, affiliates, and partners across direct-to-consumer, retail, and distribution channels.
• Interpret and operationalize complex deal terms, splits, and participation structures.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy in royalty calculations and payment workflows.

Contract and Rights Management

• Design and maintain a centralized contract and rights management system.
• Track rights-holder agreements, commercial terms, renewals, and obligations.
• Partner with leadership and legal teams as new agreements are executed.

Reporting, Systems, and Automation

• Build scalable reporting templates and processes that reduce manual effort.
• Leverage modern tools, automation, and AI-assisted workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide clear summaries and insights to leadership related to revenue, royalties, and partner performance.

E-Commerce and Sales Data

• Work with Shopify and related platforms to track SKU-level sales and reconcile reporting.
• Align sales data with royalty logic across products, territories, and channels.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in royalty accounting, rights management, or music industry finance.
• Prior experience at a major label, distributor, publisher, or music-focused accounting firm strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of master, publishing, mechanical, and direct-to-fan royalty structures.
• Demonstrated ability to translate contracts into scalable reporting and systems.
• High level of discretion and comfort handling confidential financial and contractual information.
• Strong technology fluency, including spreadsheets, dashboards, and contract management tools.
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify is a plus.
• Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fractional or flexible engagement structure.
• Los Angeles-based candidates preferred.

Engagement Structure and Compensation

This is a fractional engagement expected to average approximately 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility based on business needs.

Compensation will be structured on an hourly or monthly basis and is expected to align with approximately $75–$85 per hour, depending on experience and scope. As KiTbetter continues to grow, this role has the potential to expand over time.
