Location: Las Cruces, NM

The Estimator is responsible for reviewing customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), developing accurate and competitive pricing, and preparing customer quotations for aerospace and defense parts, components, and kits. This position analyzes technical requirements, engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), historical pricing, supplier quotations, and other cost information to develop estimates that support Kit Pack's business objectives and customer requirements.

This position partners closely with Sales, Purchasing, Quality, and Operations to ensure quotations are accurate, complete, timely, and aligned with technical and customer requirements. The successful candidate will contribute directly to Kit Pack's ability to respond effectively to customer opportunities and secure profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze customer Requests for Quote (RFQs), specifications, drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and other technical documentation to determine quoting requirements.
• Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates and customer quotations for aerospace and defense parts, components, and kits.
• Research material, component, machining, special process, outside service, and other costs required to complete estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations as needed to support customer pricing.
• Analyze historical pricing, purchasing data, prior quotations, and other available cost information to develop estimates.
• Identify and account for material, labor, outside processing, tooling, freight, and other applicable costs when developing quotations.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and technical requirements to ensure all applicable requirements are reflected in estimates.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, Operations, and Sales to gather technical and cost information and resolve questions or discrepancies.
• Identify potential cost, lead-time, or technical risks that may affect quoted pricing or the ability to fulfill customer requirements.
• Prepare clear, complete, and timely customer quotations in accordance with company requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of quotations, pricing assumptions, source information, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor and update estimates as customer requirements, supplier pricing, material costs, or other relevant factors change.
• Support quote follow-up activities by providing additional pricing, cost, or technical information as requested.
• Assist with developing and maintaining pricing standards, estimating tools, historical cost data, and other resources used to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to the quoting and estimating process.
• Assist with government contract requirements and ensure estimating activities comply with applicable company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of estimating, quoting, pricing, purchasing, manufacturing, or related experience in an aerospace, defense, aviation, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience preparing quotes or cost estimates for manufactured parts, components, assemblies, kits, or related products.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to evaluate costs and develop accurate pricing.
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and experience working with pricing or cost data.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple RFQs and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate pricing, technical, and cost information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), DLA, or government contracts.
• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS requirements.
• Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
• Experience working with legacy aerospace or military aircraft platforms.

Pay

$27.00-$31.00/hr - Negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an incentive plan based on individual performance and company meeting defined targets.
