As a Lead Service Technician for Kit Carson Propane, you will be responsible for providing expert-level installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of residential and commercial propane systems, ensuring safety compliance and leading a team of service technicians to deliver exceptional customer service and operational efficiency.
What You'll Do:
- Install, repair, service, and maintain all residential, commercial, and agricultural propane systems and appliances.
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys and determine optimal placement for tanks and piping.
- Perform system conversions and upgrades as necessary.
- Perform scheduled maintenance checks and safety inspections.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to propane systems, appliances, and gas flow.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, including pumps, motors, compressors, and gauges.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, federal, state and local regulations.
- Complete all required documentation, including work orders, service tickets, and inspection reports accurately and timely.
- Ensure all installations and repairs meet required inspection standards.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to service technicians.
- All other duties as needed.
What you bring:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Propane Service Technician.
- Demonstrated proficiency in installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial propane systems and appliances.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
- Strong understanding of NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code) and NFPA 58 (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on-call, weekends, and flexible hours as required for emergency service.
- Certifications and Licenses
- Valid New Mexico Propane Gas License required.
- LP-3S Retail Sale of LP Gas
- LP-5 Installation, Service and Repair
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification is a plus.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50-75 lbs.).
- Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
