Manufacturing Engineer:
Purpose of the Position
This position is responsible for managing documents, equipment, tooling, and fixturing required to manufacture the diverse portfolio of products made by Kistler Instrument Corp. (KIC) Production Facility. The manufacturing engineer develops and troubleshoots manufacturing processes in order to improve product quality, cost, and/or lead-time. This includes investigation and proposal of new production equipment, process procedures, and methods to automate, improve, and/or scale-up new and existing processes.
Main Tasks
- Provides technical support and improve manufacturing lines by specifying and/or refining BOMs, routings, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Design, document, procure, qualify, implement, and improve fixtures, tools and equipment.
- Provides documentation and training on assembly methods, test procedures, and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day process performance issues, develop solutions, and monitor improvements.
- Works closely with R&D engineering, quality, purchasing, and planning to ensure products meet specified requirements.
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow. Design layouts of equipment and workspaces in conjunction with Kistler’s Lean Initiatives for maximum production efficiency.
- Collaborates with R&D engineering design staff to develop manufacturing methods for new products.
- Responsible for change management and implementation for changes to manufacturing processes.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean and Six Sigma tools to optimize production operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travel up to 10% Local and International.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year technical or engineering college or university and a minimum 2-5 years’ related experience or equivalent of education and experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects and prioritize work appropriately to meet commitments.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Experience with engineering change systems.
- Ability to interpret and create (SolidWorks preferred) complex technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Experience with LabVIEW or Test Stand a plus.
- Physical requirements: Ability to sit, stand and move about to accomplish tasks, Ability to work on Computers.
