Kisner Law, LLC is a growing plaintiff-side personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm based in Hyattsville, Maryland. We represent injured individuals with care, urgency, and a results-driven approach. As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking an Associate Attorney who is looking to build a long-term career within a collaborative, client-focused firm.
This role is ideal for an attorney with 2–5 years of practice experience who is comfortable working directly with clients, managing cases with autonomy, and contributing meaningfully as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned matters from intake through resolution with appropriate autonomy and accountability
- Conduct strong legal research and writing, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement-related documents
- Develop and execute case strategy using applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and procedural rules
- Maintain responsibility for calendaring, scheduling, deadlines, and overall case progression
- Handle litigation-related tasks, including discovery and depositions
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and other parties
- Negotiate settlements or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop negotiation skills
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to paralegals and legal assistants
- Ensure consistent client communication and high-quality client service
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience practicing law
- Licensed and in good standing with the Maryland Bar (DC bar a plus)
- Prior experience in personal injury, workers’ compensation, family law, or another client-facing practice area with transferable skills
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively on a team
- Experience managing deadlines, court calendars, and case workflows
- Litigation and deposition experience preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage cases independently while remaining accountable to firm processes
- Interest in building a long-term role within a growing firm environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
