Kismet of Kings is seeking a committed, organized, and youth-centered Assistant Program Director who can support program operations and safely transport youth participants as part of our daily programming.
This individual plays a key leadership role—helping run day-to-day activities, supporting staff, engaging youth, and stepping in for the Program Director when needed—while also serving as a reliable driver for our 15-passenger van during scheduled pickups and drop-offs.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a caring presence for youth, and a responsible driver who can maintain professionalism on the road and in program spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all program activities and events
- Support the Program Director in supervising staff and facilitators, offering guidance and feedback
- Ensure program spaces are prepared, organized, and running smoothly
- Lead or facilitate workshops and activities as needed
- Monitor youth attendance, engagement, and behavior; escalate concerns appropriately
- Support with collecting attendance, data, and program stories for reporting
- Collaborate with the Program Liaison and Director of Operations on program flow, communication, and logistics
- Build positive relationships with youth and encourage active participation
- Assist with communication and engagement of families when necessary
- Uphold and model Kismet of Kings’ values in all settings
Transportation Duties
- Safely transport youth (ages 11–18) to and from program sites using a 15-passenger van
- Maintain punctual and consistent pickup/drop-off routes (morning and afternoon split schedule)
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks
- Ensure all youth are seated and wearing seat belts before moving the vehicle
- Maintain order and enforce safety protocols during transport
- Communicate professionally with parents, youth, and staff during transportation periods
- Keep accurate mileage, attendance, and transportation logs
- Report maintenance concerns immediately
Qualifications
Required:
- 2–4 years of experience working with youth in an educational, nonprofit, or community environment
- Valid New Jersey Driver’s License
- Clean driving record; minimum 3 years of driving experience
- Must be at least 25 years old (insurance requirement)
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Experience facilitating group activities or workshops
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse communities, including underserved populations
- Flexible, reliable, and solutions-oriented
Preferred:
- Experience driving vans or similar vehicles
- Familiarity with restorative practices, trauma-informed care, or youth development models
- Previous supervisory experience
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)
- Passion for Kismet of Kings’ mission
Professional Development
- Required to complete a minimum of four (4) professional development sessions per year
- Sessions may be:
- Recommended by leadership based on growth areas
- Selected by the staff member (with approval) if aligned with development goals
Compensation & Schedule
- Part-time, salaried position
