Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Communicates clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats, tailored to diverse audiences and contexts.
- Demonstrates knowledge of student-centered practices that support student success, retention, and engagement throughout the academic journey.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of FERPA and other federal and state regulations related to admissions, registration, and student records. Ensures compliance in all student services operations.
- Experienced in managing and supporting enrollment processes, new student orientation programs, and transition services that foster a welcoming and informed student experience.
- Skilled in using student information systems (e.g., Ellucian), CRM tools, and learning management systems to support student services functions.
- Helps students identify barriers and connects them to appropriate resources (e.g., advising, financial aid, counseling).
- Bachelor’s degree in college student planning, higher education, or related field, or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
- Master’s degree in college student planning, higher education, or related field, or a combination of relevant experience, education and training that equates to the required degree.
- Experience in postsecondary education.
- Experience working with transfer programs.
- Bilingualism.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 25 pounds with proper equipment; reasonable accommodations available.
- Light physical activity required; must be able to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively in various formats.
- Primarily daytime hours with some evening and weekends to support College events and initiatives.

- Provide educational planning, advisement, and course placement assistance for new, continuing and returning students using a proactive case management approach.
- Assist with programs and services designed to increase the academic and developmental success of students.
- Provide guidance for students with concerns that may affect the educational process of students.
- Maintain accurate and timely academic advising notes using Student Planning and Ellucian Colleague software systems.
- Provide updated transfer information, process course and other relative internal changes to program plans as needed.
- Participate in group advising registration events and other events as it relates to Academic Advising for students.
- Serve on institutional committees and attend various campus meetings as a representative of Student Services.
- Work a flexible schedule as needed during peak advising to cover college events.
- Make appropriate referrals for students in need of personal counseling in collaboration with Counseling Staff.
- Collaborate with other higher education institutions in relaying important transfer information to students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
