What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diagnostician position at KISD?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the diagnostician involves implementing a program of diagnostic services for the district within the framework of the philosophy and objectives established by Board policy, consistent with statutes and standards of regulatory agencies and in accordance with regulations and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification per Texas Education Agency regulations
- Minimum 3 years classroom experience
- Master’s Degree

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Plans and implements diagnostic services as a support to the district’s goals and objectives.
- Attends and participates in all ARD meetings as assigned.
- Administers diagnostic instruments to students referred to special education.
- Interprets results of assessment to principals, school counselors, nurses, teachers, and parents.
- Maintains updates and manages special education eligibility folders in the special education management system in order to maintain compliance with special education documentation.
- Assists in planning and implementing staff development programs in the area of special education for district personnel.
- Interacts effectively with students to promote a positive school image for the student.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned by proper authority.
- Attends required trainings and staff development.
- Implements and ensures compliance with the policies, procedures, standards, and objectives, established by the Board of Trustees, district administration, Texas Education Agency, and Office of Special Education Program.
- Provides technical assistance to campus and district personnel on the special education management system.
- Performs duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner.
- Follows effective verbal and written communication. Forms of communication may include but are not limited to phone calls (cell phones and land line) email, memos, newsletters, etc.
- Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
- Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
- Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and other stakeholders of the district.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as needed; moderate lifting and carrying. Attend out of town meetings.
Salary : $60,174 - $73,383
