Job Summary
Kirkwood Elementary is seeking a part-time Physical Education Teacher to provide high-quality physical education instruction to students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade two days per week. The selected candidate will plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. The teacher will collaborate with site staff to ensure instruction aligns with California Physical Education standards and supports a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate physical education lessons for TK–8 students Teach fundamental movement skills, fitness concepts, and sportsmanship Organize and supervise physical activities and games that promote student engagement and safety Assess student progress and maintain appropriate records Maintain equipment and ensure safe use of facilities Collaborate with teachers and administration regarding student needs and school programs Enforce school and district policies related to student behavior and safety Perform other related duties as assigned Schedule 2 days per week (days to be determined) School year position following the district academic calendar
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Single Subject Physical Education Teaching Credential or appropriate Multiple Subject Credential with authorization for physical education instruction DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance Desired Qualifications Experience teaching physical education to elementary or middle school students Ability to adapt instruction for a wide range of developmental levels (TK–8) Strong classroom management and organizational skills
