General Job Summary

Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach Hospitality Math in-person at the Cedar Rapids campus. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge base in their discipline and teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Primary duties will include teaching assigned class and communicating with Department staff, students and faculty.

Course Meeting Details

  • Fall Semester: August 24, 2026-October 15, 2026
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 12:00PM-1:25PM
  • Face-to-face Center for Hospitality Arts

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in discipline in a face-to-face course format
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Regularly login to Kirkwood Learning Management System.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.

Physical Activities With/Without Reasonable Accommodation

Position involves working in a classroom setting. Occasional (10-33%) sitting, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) standing, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6000 hours of industry experience in the culinary industry, OR
  • 3000 hours of industry experience in the culinary industry AND an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field.

Preferred Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, Or Registrations

  • Experience teaching at the college level
