About the Role
The Director of Donor Relations leads the design and execution of a comprehensive donor stewardship and engagement program to foster lasting, mission-aligned relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Reporting to the KTFF Executive Director, the Director of Donor Relations ensures that supporters feel informed, appreciated, and connected to the impact of their giving, ultimately driving donor retention, increased giving, and a long-term commitment to champion the mission of KIPP Texas Public Schools.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Goal: Raise $12M annually for KIPP Texas Public Schools.
- Develop and implement a strategic donor relations program to deepen engagement with current and prospective donors
- Partner with the KTFF Executive Director and the Major Gifts Officer to ensure a donor-centered approach to fundraising and communications
- Manage a small portfolio of prospects and donors, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Lead the creation and implementation of personalized stewardship plans for individual, corporate, and institutional funders, including impact reports, updates, engagement and recognition opportunities
- Manage donor recognition and appreciation efforts, such as naming opportunities, donor walls, and annual impact publications
- Oversee donor communications and touchpoints, including thank-you letters, gift acknowledgments, newsletters, campaigns, etc.
- Oversee the production of customized reports and updates for major donors and foundation partners
- Support frontline fundraisers by equipping them with stewardship materials and donor insights
- Collaborate with program and school teams to gather student success stories and key outcomes for donor materials
- Support the creation of donor engagement collateral
- Ensure all donor interactions and preferences are accurately recorded in the CRM system (i.e. Blackbaud)
- Plan and execute meaningful donor events including campus tours, classroom visits, stewardship, solicitation, meetings, gatherings, and recognition events
- Ensure events and experiences align with the KTFF brand, mission, and donor expectations; showcase the impact and values of KIPP Texas Public Schools
- Serve as an internal expert on donor relations, communications, and events
- Provide training, resources, and guidance to staff involved in donor relations work
- Collaborate with the KTFF finance team to ensure accurate donor relations budgeting, expense tracking, and audit preparedness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years of organizational leadership with experience in fundraising, philanthropy and/or non-profit leadership, required
- Proven track record of leading donor engagement and stewardship
- Experience in nonprofit management or public education preferred
- Knowledge of Texas public education policies and the charter school landscape is a plus

Location & Travel
- This role may be based in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, or San Antonio
- On site: works from a KIPP Texas region office or in the field at least 4 days a week
- Regular travel required between KIPP Texas regions and occasional national travel
